If suddenly your router is not working, then you can use your
computer as a router to mitigate your instant needs. By this way you may get
relief from hassle or from wasting time and you may mitigate your urgent needs
instantly.
Let see.
First I will show how to create a wireless router inside a
computer then I will show how to create a LAN router inside a computer.
How to create a wireless router inside a computer:
1) Make sure your computer has a wireless card
for WiFi capability. If it doesn't, install a wireless card in an ISP slot on
the back of your computer. Connect the modem to the computer and confirm that
your Internet access is working.
2) Go to the control panel and select the
"Network" option. In Vista, select "Network and Sharing
Center" followed by "Set Up a New Connection" in the
"Tasks" menu. Click on "Set up a Wireless Ad-Hoc Network."
3) If you use an XP operating system, go to the
"Network Connections" option. Right-click "Wireless Network
Connection," and select "Properties." In the "Wireless
Networks" tab, check the "Use Windows to Configure..." box and
click "Add" under "Preferred networks."
4) Create a name and security key for your new
network. In XP, choose "Shared" as the "Network
Authentication," and "WEP" for the "Data Encryption."
In the "Advanced" option, choose "Computer to Computer Networks
Only."
5) Complete the wireless setup. In Vista, click
"Turn on the Internet Connection Sharing." In XP, click
"OK," then right-click "Local Area Connection" and select
"Properties." Go to the "Advanced" tab and check the box
for allowing other network users to connect to the network.
6) Turn on another computer (with a wireless
card) and open the network sharing center. Click the option for viewing or
managing wireless networks, and select your new computer network (you may have
to "Add" the network before it appears). Input the network's security
key to access the wireless network.
Here I am mentioning some popular laptops which comes with Wifi
and appropriate to do the above job.
Now I will show how to create a LAN Router inside a computer.
1) Remove the two screws from the right rear of
your case and slide off the right panel of the computer.
2) Insert the router card into an available PCI
slot, located on the bottom half of your motherboard toward the rear of the
machine.
3) Screw the card into position.
4) Start your computer and insert the driver
disk that came with your router card.
5) Select the "Install" button to
install the required drivers and software for using your router card.
Prevention is better than cure. So we should purchase good routers
and switches even if it is little bit costly.
At the moment, some popular routers and switches around Australia
